A Quote frrom the Heritage Foundation got me thinking...

The Heritage Foundation Quote of the Day: "We are too solicitous for government intervention, on the theory, first, that the people themselves are helpless, and second, that the Government has superior capacity for action. Often times both of these conclusions are wrong." ~ Calvin Coolidge

This is a profound statement as our Government is growing in size and number by the second. To make our decisions, take away our freedoms, in efforts to "save" us. Yet, as I look around at our present state of affairs it is Governmental actions that have placed us in the mess they are trying to save us from. The changes every day to our Constitution that are shaping our futures in ways we cannot even fathom. When all these changes take place, some slow, some quickly, but it will be too late to understand the consequences and change it.

Think about the state of California, under Democrat power for years, and its policy's and programs to "save the people" are the very thing that have caused the state to go bankrupt. The State of California's GDP should easily sustain itself, and is actually more than some countries. Can you believe that!! It amazed me as well. Which in my opinion in the State of California should be capable of creating a surplus for themselves, not declaring bankruptcy. So why do people think that this model will work for the entire nation?

Now naturally our bleeding heart instincts want to help all people, but it should be on an individual basis not nationally or globally for that matter. If people people every day were the best person they could be, then all this would not be necessary, or would it? Do we need the Government to make our decisions on what we can own, drink, drive, and how we should received medical care? Tell us how many cows we can own, what seeds we can plant, and doctors we can see? Just a thought.
